Computing Books @ School

The resources in the school library are absolutely abysmal. There is not a single book which is a) published sometime in the recent past or b) mildly interesting to read or c) useful for reading for university applications. I think I shall compile a list of books that the school should buy. Only problem is that I don’t know much about computing books. Please if you have any suggestions leave them on the comments I shall post a preliminary list sometime in the near future.

  • The (New) Turing Omnibus
    The Mythical Man-Month
    The Pleasures of Counting

…are all suggestions by Dr Zetie and the Cambridge reading list. I'm reading Turing atm and I think Erroll will be too.
  • Will, Matt Webb blogged about classic computing texts and various friends of his contributed their ideas. See http://interconnected.org/home/2007/09/18/a_bun... and http://interconnected.org/home/2007/09/20/i_had... . (BTW, do you accept basic HTML in your comments,?)
  • I have no idea if basic HTML works. This is just a standard "Wordpress.com" blog. I shall check to see.
  • I believe basic style HTML (which isn't really proper HTML at all) and some other stuff work (you know, em, strong, ul/ol, li)
